Background of the original design
The original Air Jordan 6 was the sixth signature basketball shoe in Nike's Jordan series. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, it debuted in 1991 and was worn by Michael Jordan during the Chicago Bulls' first NBA championship run that year.
The original design drew inspiration from Jordan's Porsche sports cars, with streamlined lines, two openings in the tongue to help with putting the shoes on and taking them off, and a rear rubber pull tab inspired by a sports car's rear wing. The previous series description also associated the heel design with Achilles tendon protection.
The original model's technology included visible Nike Air cushioning at the heel, embedded forefoot Air cushioning, and an outsole combining translucent and solid rubber for traction and a distinctive appearance.
This historical information describes the original Air Jordan 6. It does not verify the manufacturer, materials, cushioning, protective properties or performance of the replica listed here.
